I knew when I proposed to Heather that it wouldn’t be a surprise. The ring wasn’t even going to be a surprise. I had it custom-made from a couple of designs I’d seen on the internet. But I was so nervous that she might not like it, that I took her in for a fitting so she could see it. So there weren’t a lot of surprises. She knew on Saturday July 30, I was going to take her to McCormick & Schmicks for dinner, and she figured I would propose then.
So we got ready to go out to dinner. I told her to dress up. She put on a cute grey dress, I donned my suit. She finished up her hair and walked into the living room. I proposed. She said yes. “Sort of unimpressive” she thought. Huh. Didn’t put a lot of thought into that one.
We walk outside to get in the car. But no. No car. We got…
A THIRTY-FOOT LIMOUSINE BUS FILLED WITH FIFTEEN OF HER CLOSEST FRIENDS. THAT’S RIGHT, A ROLLING PARTY!

Then dinner at McCormick & Schmicks.
So Heather was surprised after all!
